"Serenity-by-the-Sea" - Charming two bedroom (queen/queen), 1 bath board and bat Carmel-by-the-Sea cottage PLUS detached primary suite (king) with full bathroom.  Close to beach and downtown!  This home is located next to the historic Golden Bough Playhouse and has lovely gardens and deck on an over-sized lot.  Living room has fir hardwood floors, wood burning fireplace, TV, DVD, cable with On Demand Pay-Per-View movies, and stereo.  Dining table with seating for 6.  Cute, bright modern kitchen equipped with gas range, dishwasher, disposal, microwave and small table with seating for 2.   Both bedrooms have queen beds.  The bathroom is equipped with a tub/shower combination.  Stacked Maytag washer/dryer is located in closet off living room.  Spacious deck connects to the guest house.  Guest house has a king bed, TV with built-in DVD, kitchenette, and full bathroom with a shower stall.  Great accommodations for friends or older children!  Stairs lead down from deck to small yard & patio.  Off-street parking for 1 car -- no garage.  Wi-Fi.   Even though my first 3 weeks stay was during the worst of the rain storms, I was still very happy with the cottage. No leaks or problems despite the bad weather. The owner did a beautiful job on the bathroom. This is a great place to stay.

  We really enjoyed our stay here. If not for a dysfunctional dishwasher everything was nice. Old beach house charming....although the two bedrooms are not queen size beds as described, but full size. The house location is superb and the lower terrace is delightful. The house was extremely well stocked, lacking nothing and the beds were comfy.

  The only thing I would ask to be different next time is the furniture in the living room. The leather couch and chair are so old there is no padding left in them. They were very uncomfortable to sit in. It was hard to be comfortable in them.

  We absolutely loved Serenity-by-the-Sea! My husband and I recently stayed 5 weeks to get some time in my hometown. The house is 5 blocks from the beach and just 2 blocks from Ocean Ave, the perfect location for some wonderful walks. It’s cute and had everything we needed to make the say wonderful, including good WiFi if you need to work from home. The guest house is awesome and spacious and has a nice big shower. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen is filled with all the amenities needed for cooking. The bathroom in the main house is dated but still fully functional. We loved lounging in the back courtyard, the landscaping really creates privacy and there is a fire pit for fun evenings outside. We highly recommend Serenity-by-the-Sea and plan to stay again in the future.

  Great 2 month stay at CAREJ for an extended family. Felt like we were in a quiet bubble away from the Covid-19 craziness. Location is excellent; 3 blocks to the heart of Carmel and 5 blocks down to the beach. Lay out of the main house is a little quirky but after a couple weeks we settled in and found the layout's uniqueness quite charming. Casita w/ 1 king and bed 1 bath provided separation and privacy when needed. Deck and backyard w/ fireplace made for enjoyable evenings under the stars w/ a glass of wine.
